Police: Largo Man Punched, Strangled Girlfriend in Moving Car
John Armstrong II of Largo has been charged with domestic battery by strangulation and kidnapping.

A Largo man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend while punching her multiple times as he was driving her car.Β
The victim, according to the arrest affidavit, tried several times to exit the moving vehicle but was grabbed by the suspect.
"At one point, she was able to escape the vehicle," the affidavit read. "(However), the defendant grabbed the victim's clothing form behind forcing her back into the vehicle and continued to batter her."

According to Largo Police, 34-year-old John Armstrong II also "punched her repeated in the back of the head causing swelling."
Armstrong II has been charged withΒ domestic battery by strangulation and kidnapping.

Police say the victim had minor injuries and torn clothing.Β
According to Pinellas County Jail records, Armstrong II has previously been charged battery, driving with a suspended license and aggravated battery.Β
