Pinealls Animal Services Offering Grants

The community reimbursement grants will help agencies that provide services to animals in Pinellas County.

LARGO, FL – Pinellas County Animal Services announced it is taking applications for community grants for Fiscal Year 2018.

Animal Services funds the reimbursement grants for nonprofit agencies to provide services that benefit animals in Pinellas County. The program is funded through the Animal Welfare Trust Fund.

The grant application period will begin Tuesday, Aug. 1 and are due on or before Thursday, Aug. 31. Participating agencies are required to use the grant funding on the following:

  • Preventative Care and Microchips: reimbursement to nonprofit organizations within Pinellas County that provide preventative veterinary care and microchips for pets of low-income residents in the county
  • Sterilization and Microchips: reimbursement to nonprofit organizations within Pinellas County that provide sterilization services and microchips for pets of low-income residents in the county
  • TNVR: reimbursement to nonprofit community cat organizations within Pinellas County that operate a trap-neuter-vaccinate-return program in accordance with county ordinances.

Animal Services will allocate $41,000 for Preventative Care, Sterilization and Microchip programs and $17,000 to TNVR programs.

Residents are able to donate directly to the Animal Welfare Trust Fund to benefit animals under care at Pinellas County Animal Services. The fund was established to allow Animal Services to receive gifts, grants and money from public and private donors. The donations are placed in a trust and appropriated for the exclusive use, welfare and benefit of domestic animals within Pinellas County.

According to Animal Services, the trust fund makes it possible to care for a larger number of animals and provides for special needs assistance, such as extra medications, specialty food and items for dogs and cats the shelter might not otherwise be able to provide.
