Police Dog Tracked Burglary Suspects, Police Say

A couple of men were arrested Jan. 9 after a reported auto burglary at the Brittany Bay Apartment Complex on Seminole Boulevard, according to arrest affidavits.

A police dog "tracked directly to the subjects," according to an arrest affidavit.

Anthony Andrew Harris, 18, was found with a "firearm in his pants," police report.

Harris reportedly told police he received the handgun from an acquaintance but "he also had female jewelry and a large amount of change on him most likely from auto burglaries," according to an arrest affidavit.

Harris reportedly "smelled of marijuana and a small 'joint' of marijuana was found tucked behind his ear," according to an arrest affidavit.

Harris is also accused of giving Largo Police a false name and birth date "knowing that he had three warrants and was in possession of a concealed firearm in his pants," police report.

Harris was arrested on the charges of felon in possession of firearm, carrying concealed firearm, providing false name to a law enforcement officer and possession of marijuana. He was arrested on warrants for violation of probation grand theft auto (three counts).

A Belleair Bluffs man was listed as a co-defendant on several of Harris' arrest affidavits.

Carl Andrew Carlson, 18, of Belleair Bluffs, was arrested on the charge of burglary after he allegedly went into an unlocked vehicle parked at the Brittany Bay Apartment Complex.

Carlson was "seen sitting in the front passenger's seat while emptying the contents of the vehicle's glove box while wearing blue latex gloves," according to an arrest affidavit.

The names of any other alleged suspects were not listed as co-defendants, in the arrest affidavits of Harris or Carlson.

Carlson was awaiting trial Jan. 9 in Pinellas County Jail on a bond of $5,000, according to online sheriff's office records.
