Police: Largo Man Gave Child Hallucinogenic Mushroom

Largo Police say 19-year-old Matthew Parris admitted to the crime after being arrested.

A 19-year-old Largo man is in jail after allegedly feeding a child a hallucinogenic mushroom Feb. 23.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ryan Parris knowingly bought illegal mushrooms and gave them to a child to eat.

Largo Police say Parris admitted to the crime after being arrested.

The child's age was not released by police.

Parris has been charged with child abuse and is currently awaiting trial at the Pinellas County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

According to jail records, Parris has one prior offense, a DUI charge in April 2012.
