Police: Largo Man Gave Child Hallucinogenic Mushroom

Largo Police say 19-year-old Matthew Parris admitted to the crime after being arrested.

A 19-year-old Largo man is in jail after allegedly feeding a child a hallucinogenic mushroom Feb. 23.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ryan Parris knowingly bought illegal mushrooms and gave them to a child to eat.Β

The child's age was not released by police.

Parris has been charged with child abuse and is currently awaiting trial at the Pinellas County Jail on a $10,000 bond.Β

According to jail records, Parris has one prior offense, a DUI charge in April 2012.Β
