Protect Your Pet's Paws from the Heat

Imagine walking barefoot on a hot walkway. Although pets' paws are tougher than human feet, they can still get blisters on hot pavement or sand, especially with the summer heat.

• Avoid walking in the heat of the day 
• Watch for surfaces with full exposure to the sun
• Take strolls in the early morning or in the evening
• Look for shady trails
• Walk on the grass

If your pet gets on a hot surface, look for "blisters, loose flaps of skin and red, ulcerated patches. For minor burns, apply antibacterial wash and cover the paw with a loose bandage. For serious burns, visit your vet immediately."
