Sobriety Checkpoint Planned on Missouri Avenue North Tonight
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and Largo Police Department plan to conduct a joint sobriety checkpoint at Babcock Furniture Friday night.

Tonight's checkpoint is dedicated to Jack Schaffer. The 84-year-old man was crossing Missouri Avenue in 2007 when his scooter was struck by an impaired motorist, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The checkpoint is planned from 10:00 p.m. tonight until 3 a.m. Saturday morning at 900 Missouri Avenue North by Babcock Furniture.Β
Law enforcement officers including a K-9 unit will look for alcohol and drug impaired drivers. The goal is to reduce DUI related injuries, according to a news release.Β
