Man accused of pushing woman into fridge and closet during argument (leesburg-news.com) — Leesburg police arrested a 41-year-old man after a woman reported being pushed into a closet door and refrigerator during a late-night argument at a local residence. Another witness told officers she saw him shove the woman with his forearms. The man denied touching her, but he was booked into Lake County Jail on a simple battery (domestic) charge with bond set at $1,000.

Former head of Leesburg Art Festival won't face prosecution on fraud charge (leesburg-news.com) — Leesburg’s former art festival director will not be prosecuted after state attorneys found insufficient evidence to move forward on a fraud charge involving the Leesburg Center for the Arts. A devoted churchgoer in Okahumpka, he handcrafted hundreds of scripture trivets shared worldwide and will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and “Mr. Fix it” spirit.

Elon Musk deepfake scam steals $45,000 from couple: 'You just never think it's going to be you' (thecooldown.com) — A Leesburg man says he lost tens of thousands of dollars after scammers used Elon Musk deepfake videos to convince him he’d won a luxury car and cash, prompting a report to Leesburg Police. The case highlights how convincing AI-generated videos and social media messages can drain savings, strain long marriages, and even threaten local residents’ homes. It also offers tips on spotting deepfakes before money is sent.
