Carr is Guv'na Once Again

Suzin Carr last won in 2010.

Suzin Carr is back.

The self-published author who was named Lutz Guv’na in 2010 has earned the honorary title again. Carr was sworn in on a copy of “Green Eggs and Ham” after the community’s parade on July 4.

Lutz’s Guv’na race is an annual faux-political event that finds candidates competing to raise the most money, with all of it going to Lutz-area nonprofits regardless of who wins.

“The group total was over $12,000,” Carr said in an email. “I was completely surprised by the amount we raised, and that I was chosen as the winner (although beyond happy at the same time). There were four very hard-working candidates with great events this year, and the suspense at the end of the campaign keeps things exciting.”

Susan Gulash was one of Carr’s opponents. In a blog post, Gulash said that she had a blast.

“It has been fun and an educational opportunity running for Guv’na of Lutz," she wrote. "It was an honor to run against three wonderful women of Lutz.”
