Lutz-Land O' Lakes Women's Club Dedicated to Community Service
The group meets monthly, and is open to women 18 and older.

Members of the GFWC Lutz-Land O’ Lakes Women’s Club have a habit of stepping up.
And the community always benefits.
Members recently came across the story of Sgt. José Pequeño of Land O’ Lakes, one of the most severely injured servicemen to return from Iraq or Afghanistan. When they learned the Home Depot and The Abilities Foundation would renovate Pequeño’s home, they immediately offered their own assistance. The women provided breakfast and lunch for the volunteers. One member’s son has since volunteered to mow the Pequeño family’s yard.

When members discovered the demise of the kitchen stove in the Land O’ Lakes Community Center, the women’s club provided a new stove, Hogue said.

The community center is an important gathering place for the entire community and the women’s club chose to contribute the stove in appreciation for the use of the facility for many of its meetings and events, Hogue said.
Interested in joining these women on a mission?
It’s a lovely way for newcomers to the area to meet and become part of a wonderful group of women, Hogue said.
Meetings alternate between the Lutz and Land O’ Lakes Community Centers on the fourth Thursday of each month. Many volunteer opportunities in varied areas of interest are available. Membership is open to women 18 and over.
The GFWC sisterhood has been in service since 1890 and has more than a million members in the U.S. and in 20 countries abroad, Hogue said.Â
