Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Vacant Odessa Field

The pilot, who was not identified by authorities, escaped with no injuries.

ODESSA, FL - A small plane made an emergency landing in a vacant field in Odessa about 2:45 p.m. Saturday, and the pilot escaped with no injuries, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies. The plane landed in the area of Tyler Run Avenue and Huckavalle Road, just south of the Pasco County line.

The single-engine private plane had minor damage to a wing and the prop. The pilot of the plane did not sustain injuries and refused medical attention, deputies said. The pilot was not identified. Deputies have turned the incident over to the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA. The agencies will determine the cause of the emergency landing.

The plane will be towed from the location at a later date, deputies said.
