WESTON, FL — A 12-year-old Broward County girl was arrested over the weekend and accused of threatening to kill students at her middle school.

The threat against Falcon Cove Middle School was allegedly made through Snapchat on Friday, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

"The threat included a death list with student names from Falcon Cove Middle School," the sheriff's office said. "Another threat was posted to the social media site later Friday afternoon that indicated the students were not safe and that they would be killed on Monday, Dec. 9."

The girl, who was not identified by police because of her age, was charged with two counts of written threat to kill and false reporting concerning a firearm.

She was arrested on Saturday night and taken to the Broward County Juvenile Assessment Center.

A Falcon Cove Middle School student and her parent notified the Broward Sheriff’s Office Weston district of a threat posted on Snapchat.

"BSO detectives from the Threat Management Unit and Real Time Crime Center were able to identify the source of the threats Friday evening," the sheriff's office said. "The 12-year-old girl, a student at Falcon Cove Middle School, confirmed she made the false threats."

Falcon Cove Middle School is located at 4251 Bonaventure Blvd. in Weston.
