Miami Man Charged In 7-ELEVEN Shooting

A 19-year-old man was charged with holding up a 7-ELEVEN on Monday and shooting one of the clerks. ​

MIAMI, FL — A 19-year-old man was charged with holding up a 7-ELEVEN on Monday and shooting one of the clerks in southwest Miami-Dade County. Tavis Ernest Williams was later picked up in a drug case wearing the same clothing he had on in a surveillance video of the robbery. The employee who was shot was recovering from surgery and in stable condition Tuesday morning.

The robbery took place at 10:45 a.m. at the 7-ELEVEN store located at 13690 SW 268 Street. Police said there were several customers and clerks in the business at the time.

Williams was charged with attempted murder with a deadly weapon, robbery and displaying a firearm while committing a felony.

"Once inside, the defendant produced a firearm and immediately pointed it at victim Juarez who was working behind the counter," according to court documents. "The defendant began stating 'Give me the money from the register.'"

Police said Williams fired one shot into the victim's arm but the bullet pierced her arm and lodged into her chest.

Meanwhile, police said another clerk also got into a struggle with Williams during the robbery. Williams allegedly admitted to robbing the store.
