2 FL Restaurants Among America's Top 50, NYT Ranking Says
Of the 50 restaurants highlighted by the New York Times as 2024 favorites, 32 are newly opened. Two Florida venues made the list.
MIAMI, FL — The New York Times recently announced its 50 favorite restaurants in America for 2024, with two from Florida making the cut.
“Over the last 12 months, reporters and editors traveled to nearly every state scouting restaurants for our annual list,” according to the newspaper. “As always, there were no-brainers and tough choices — the United States has a vast, diverse spread of great restaurants these days — but these are our 50 favorites for 2024.”
The two Florida restaurants named among the nation’s best are both located in Miami. They are:

Walrus Rodeo, located at 5143 NE 2nd Ave. in Miami. Hours are Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.; Sunday and Monday, 6 to 10 p.m.; and closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Description: Just steps from its sibling Boia De in Little Haiti, vibrant hues, custom wallpaper and murals, and tin ceilings create a colorful palate of this small space. The menu revolves around the wood-burning oven, which adds a kiss of smoke to lamb ragu lasagna and creative pizzas, like the OG topped with boquerones and maple brown butter.

La Camaronera, located at 1952 W. Flagler St. in Miami. Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Description: The Times said, in part: "La Camaronera’s pan con minuta is a sandwich containing a whole gutted fried snapper, minus the head but including the tail. … The sandwich, the most popular order at this 50-plus-year-old Little Havana seafood joint, is both hard to miss and hard to resist."
California had more restaurants on the list than any other state.
Of the 50 restaurants highlighted by the Times, 32 are newly opened.
