2 Women Killed In Early Morning Crash In Miami

A 9-1-1 caller told police that the Hyundai appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 95 along with a Ford Sport Trac.

MIAMI, FL — Two women were killed in a Hyundai and a male passenger was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries early Monday after the car crashed into a guardrail and tree at 2 Avenue and SW 25 Rd. A 9-1-1 caller told police that the Hyundai appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 95 along with a Ford Expedition Sport Trac just prior to the crash. Police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver of the white Ford Sport Trac.

Both of the woman killed in the crash would have celebrated birthdays just days apart next week. The driver was identified as 26-year-old Krysten Jo-Anne Disla and her passenger was identified as 22-year-old Kaylee Marie Heath.

"It started at approximately 5:15 this morning," Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department told Patch. "It started off with a citizen that called us and said that there were two cars either racing or chasing each other on I-95 southbound."

Vega said the crash occurred shortly after the vehicles exited I-95 at SW 25 Road. "When they got off on the exit, the white Hyundai crashed into a guardrail and subsequently into a tree," Vega explained.

He said the female driver and her backseat passenger were killed on impact. "A third passenger walked away with serious injuries but we were able to get him and take him to JMH," Vega said.

Vega said the male victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

"The front of the vehicle was on fire," Vega expalined. "Miami Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fire, pronounced the two females inside the vehicle deceased and transported the male to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center."

Vega added that police are looking for the driver of the Sport Trac. "That vehicle stopped at the scene and then fled," according to Vega.
