MIAMI, FL — A Miami-Dade County jury deliberated for less than two hours Thursday before finding two men guilty in connection with a grisly 2011 murder of a man who was allegedly having an affair with the wife of a former co-owner of Presidente Supermarkets.

"I am extremely proud of Senior Trial Counsel Gail Levine and Division Chief Justin Funck’s diligence and difficult work on this horrific murder case," said Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.

Roberto Isaac and Alexis Vila Perdomo were both found guilty in connection with the murder-for-hire of Camilo Salazar, who was allegedly having an affair with the wife of Manuel Marin. The supermarket mogul is set to go on trial in 2020.

Isaac was found guilty of second-degree murder, while Vila Perdomo was found guilty of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and or murder in the second degree.

"I'm very surprised at the speed of the verdict. Based on all of the evidence that was presented I fully expected the jury to take a more careful look," defense attorney Theodore G Mastos told reporters following the verdict.

Presidente Supermarkets operates nearly 30 stores from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach County in Florida, according to the company website.

"In 2011, Marin engineered a plot to murder Mr. Salazar after hiring several co-defendants to execute the murder," Katherine Fernandez Rundle said earlier.

Marin was charged with the murder of his wife's lover after being detained in Spain and sent back to South Florida to face charges seven years after Camilo Salazar's slaying.

Fernandez Rundle said prior to the start of the trial that she hoped Salazar's death would not be lost in the sensational details of the case.

“The June 1, 2011 torture and murder of 43-year-old Camilo Salazar should not be lost within the notoriety of the alleged perpetrators and the lurid details of the crime," Fernandez Rundle said earlier.

Former MMA fighter Ariel "The Panther" Gandulla pleaded guilty in September to kidnapping in exchange for his testimony against Marin, Isaac and Vila Perdomo.
