2 Pedestrians Struck In Miami

Two pedestrians were injured Thursday when they were struck by a vehicle at the start of the evening rush hour.

MIAMI, FL — Two pedestrians were injured Thursday when they were struck by a vehicle at the start of the evening rush hour. The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. at SW 13 Avenue and First Street.

"Apparently a male was traveling east on First Street when two pedestrians went to cross on 13 Avenue," Officer Kiara Delva told patch.

She said that police were attempting to determine what caused the vehicle to strike the pedestrians, both of whom were male.

"The vehicle did remain on the scene so it wasn't a hit and run or anything like that," Delva explained.

One of the victims was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious condition by Miami Fire Rescue. The other was treated at the scene.

Delva said she did not know whether the driver would face charges. Traffic was blocked on SW 12 Avenue through SW 14 Avenue along SW First Street, according to Delva.
