54-Year-Old Polk Man Identified As Crash Victim
A 54-year-old Polk County man was identified Saturday as the victim who was killed in a Friday night crash along U.S. Highway 27.

DAVENPORT, FL — A 54-year-old Polk County man was identified Saturday as the victim who was killed in a Friday night crash along U.S. Highway 27.
Jose Febo-Collazo of Davenport was taken to AdventHealth Heart of Florida Hospital where he died a short time later, according Brian Bruchey of the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The the crash occurred at Central Grove Road in the Four Corner area.
A passenger traveling with Febo-Collazo, 52-year-old Sandra Mendez-Pagan of Davenport, was taken to Lakeland Regional Health in stable condition.

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 17-year-old Alondra Collazo of Kissimmee, who was not injured.
"Febo-Collazo stopped at a stop sign, but then proceeded onto Highway 27, into the path of Ms. Collazo's Camry, which was in the inside lane, and had the right-of-way," Bruchie explained. "The Camry struck Mr. Febo-Collazo's driver side door and both vehicles spun."

Febo-Collazo's Altima caught fire, according to Bruchie.
Southbound traffic along Highway 27 was shut down for a time north of the crash scene starting at California Boulevard. Northbound traffic was moving slowly Friday night but remained open to traffic.
The crash, occurred at 5:53 p.m.
