Amazon Guy Accused Of Taking Photo Of Package Before Stealing It
An Amazon deliveryman is facing theft and burglary charges after he was allegedly caught on surveillance video stealing a package.

DAVENPORT, FL — An Amazon deliveryman is facing theft and burglary charges after he was allegedly caught on surveillance video placing a package under an outdoor Christmas tree so he could photograph it before whisking it away seconds later.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jose Campos was charged with unarmed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and petit theft first offense, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. See also How To Keep Grinches From Stealing Your Jelly Of The Month
Sheriff Grady Judd criticized the online giant for what he described as providing "no cooperation" during the investigation.

“I’m not surprised by much anymore, but this lack of cooperation from Amazon floors me. All we needed was a name — they knew who committed this crime in Polk County, and they would not tell us without us serving legal process to their corporate headquarters in Delaware," Judd said. "This is just irresponsible on their part."

In this case, investigators knew the date and delivery address in the Watersong Resort development near Davenport. They also had video, pictures and the date and time of the delivery but not the name of the driver.
"They apparently don’t care about the ongoing safe and secure delivery of their packages to their customers and exposing other customers to burglary and theft," Judd insisted.
The homeowner reported the Amazon package stolen from his front porch though his Amazon account showed it delivered on Dec. 19.
"There was no package when he got home," the sheriff's office said. "The homeowner pulled up his surveillance video covering the front door and saw the Amazon delivery driver deliver the package, take a delivery confirmation photo and then remove the package."
When detectives stopped by Amazon's logistics center to identify the driver, Amazon employees refused to cooperate, according to the sheriff's office.
“'You need a subpoena,' multiple Amazon managers told Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives,'" the sheriff's office said. "Even Amazon’s loss prevention manager told a detective to get a subpoena."
The sheriff's office said the security office at Watersong fortunately had recorded the license tag number of the Amazon driver's vehicle.
"Detectives ran the tag and it came back to Campos’ girlfriend in Kissimmee," the sheriff's office explained. "Detectives contacted her and she told them her boyfriend uses the car to deliver packages for Amazon."
That led investigators to Campos.
"He confirmed he was delivering for Amazon at the time," the sheriff's office said. "He also said that, yes, it was him in the video."
