2 Miami Area Banks Robbed, Possibly By Same Man

The FBI believes the same man struck a Bank of America branch in Miami and a Wells Fargo in Miami Springs within hours of one another.

MIAMI, FL — The FBI is searching for a lone bandit who held up a Bank of America branch late Thursday morning and then drove to Miami Springs, where he held up a Wells Fargo Bank branch. The first robbery took place around 10:56 a.m. and the second took place at 12:27 p.m. The FBI believes the robber is also responsible for an April robbery at the same Bank of America branch at 1313 NW 36th Street.

In each of the incidents, "the robber entered the bank and demanded money from a bank employee," according to Special Agent Michael Leverock and spokesman Jim Marshall of the FBI in Miami. (Sign up for our free Daily Newsletters and Breaking News Alerts for the Miami Patch.)

No one was injured in any of the three robberies. The Wells Fargo branch is located at 4299 NW 36th Street in Miami Springs.

The agency released photographs of the suspect taken from surveillance cameras in each of the banks. The FBI would not say how much money was taken during any of the robberies.

Earlier this month, another Bank of America branch was also robbed in Miami. That branch is located at 4020 SW 67th Ave and appears to have been robbed by a different man.
