Brownsville Middle School Placed On Lockdown
Brownsville Middle School was placed on lockdown for a time Tuesday while police investigated a report of gunshots in the area.

MIAMI, FL — Brownsville Middle School was placed on lockdown for a time Tuesday while police investigated a report of gunshots in the area. The lockdown was put in place at 8:36 a.m. and lifted about an hour later. The school is located at 4899 NW 24th Ave.
"All we know is that the shots were fired and that the shots were heard, and we responded to the area," Detective Alvaro A. Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department told Patch.

He said that the school was placed on lockdown around the time that some students were arriving for school. Police did not immediately find any threats in the area.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we've gone ahead and placed Brownsville Middle School on lockdown," Zabaleta added.
