Child Airlifted In Miami-Dade

A child was airlifted Saturday in Miami-Dade after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency.

HOMESTEAD, FL — A child was airlifted Saturday in Miami-Dade after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The incident happened shortly before noon just off Sands Cut.

"Fireboat 21, Fireboat 73, Air Rescue South and MDPD Marine Units responded to a child having a medical problem off Sands Cut," a spokesperson for the agency said Saturday.

"Air Rescue deployed one of their divers when they arrived on scene to asses the patient," according to the spokesperson. "It was determined patient needed further medical assistance."

The child was taken on Fireboat 73 to Boca Chita and then flown by Air Rescue South to a nearby hospital.
