A commercial van plunged four stories off the side of a parking garage at Miami International Airport Friday morning.

MIAMI, FL — A commercial van plunged four stories off the side of a parking garage at Miami International Airport Friday morning but passenger flights were not affected, according to Miami-Dade police. The driver was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder trauma Center in what appeared to be stable condition. The incident occurred at 8:19 a.m. in an employee parking garage.

"It doesn't impede any regular flow of business for the airport," explained Detective Jennifer Capote of the Miami-Dade Police Department. "The parking garage is away from the passenger area."

The driver of the white van was not immediately identified by Miami-Dade police but he was described as a man in his 50s. The vehicle came to rest upside down on an internal airport road.
