MIAMI, FL — A Miami construction worker was injured on the 49th floor of a condominium skyscraper Monday afternoon. The incident occurred at 1010 Brickell Avenue around 2:30 p.m. First responders said the building is near Mary Brickell Village.

"Units are entering off of South Miami Avenue and 10th Street," explained Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue.

Carroll said that the construction worker was apparently struck in the head by "some type of machinery." First responders lowered the worker from near the top of the upscale, 50-story building.

"Due to the incompleteness of several floors, Miami firefighters from the technical rescue team will have to lower him to the ground using one of the cranes," Carroll said prior to lowering the victim to the ground.
