Coral Gables Shopping Center Locked Down For Time

CORAL GABLES, FL — The Village of Merrick Shops was placed on lockdown for a time Wednesday as Coral Gables police searched the upscale mall for someone who was possibly carrying a gun.

"CGPD was able to locate and identify the person with the gun and it was determined there was no threat or no crime committed," Coral Gables police said on social media late Wednesday afternoon. "The mall has reopened."

Police announced earlier Wednesday that the mall had been locked down as a precaution while officers searched for a person who was carrying a possible firearm.
