Mother searches for answers after woman found dead on side of Miami-Dade road (nbcmiami.com) — A woman’s body was found early Friday along Southwest 170th Street and 98th Avenue in southwest Miami-Dade, and detectives are asking residents for tips. The victim’s mother says her daughter struggled with schizophrenia, while surveillance video appears to show a pickup truck dumping a body. Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
   

2. Doctor mysteriously found dead inside Dollar Tree freezer reportedly naked (foxnews.com) — Miami police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old anesthesiologist found inside a walk-in freezer at a Dollar Tree in Little Havana on Sunday morning. Authorities say surveillance video shows no foul play, but they’re still trying to understand why she entered the restricted stockroom area. The store briefly closed during the investigation, and friends are raising funds to return her body to Nicaragua.
   

3. Miami wary of little brother FIU in rivalry meeting (statenews.net) — Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball host crosstown rival FIU in Coral Gables tonight, with injuries potentially sidelining up to three key Miami players. FIU rides a three-game win streak into a matchup where Miami has historically dominated but recently needed a close finish to prevail.
   

4. Jewish groups urge heightened security (tribtoday.com) — A major synagogue in the Miami area, Temple Beth Sholom, is urging members to embrace “Jewish joy” and gather for Hanukkah even as leading U.S. Jewish groups call for tighter security and preregistration at public events after a deadly attack in Australia. The broader Jewish community is balancing heightened precautions with a determination to stay visible and celebrate together.
   

5. US agrees to give Ukraine security guarantees in peace talks (tribtoday.com) — Miami is being floated as a possible U.S. site for upcoming peace talks on security guarantees for Ukraine, part of negotiations to end Russia’s nearly four-year war. U.S., European, and Ukrainian officials say they’ve agreed on most of a U.S.-backed plan, including robust security assurances, while major questions remain over occupied territory and Ukraine’s future relationship with NATO.
