1. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis won re-election Tuesday in a race that is expected to contribute to his rise to national politics. The Associated Press called the race a few minutes after 8 p.m. in the evening. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times, Free: CNN)

2. Closures are piling up across South Florida as Tropical Storm Nicole approaches Florida. All Broward County schools and district offices as well as Miami-Dade Public Schools will be closed Wednesday. University of Miami will transition to online learning on Wednesday for all students at all campuses, except a few medical students. (WSVN)

3. Gov. Ron DeSantis clashed with the U.S. Department of Justice at election polling offices on Tuesday during the Nov. 8 general election. Florida denied access to polling offices for federal election monitors, previously unheard of. (Miami Patch)

4. Opa-locka Sgt. Sergio Perez, 35, who was arrested on a battery charge in January, has been arrested once again in 2022. Perez has now been arrested for a first-degree misdemeanor battery stemming from allegations of excessive force in September 2020. (WPLG Local 10)

5. Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration and a Miami abortion clinic, Doctors Office for Women, Inc. have reached a settlement over allegations that the clinic did not properly comply with a state law requiring 24-hour waiting periods before abortions can be performed.
