Crews worked into the night to repair a blown transformer as neighbors described thick smoke and a loud blast, but no injuries were reported. The displaced mother, previously evicted from Little Abner Mobile Home Park, says she’s grateful her family is safe.

Kremlin envoy set to visit Miami for talks on US peace plan for Ukraine (thehill.com) — Top-level talks on a U.S. peace plan for Ukraine are set to take place in Miami this Saturday, bringing a Kremlin envoy together with Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. While the war’s details are global, the meeting’s location puts Miami at the center of sensitive diplomacy that could shape U.S.-Russia-Ukraine relations.
   

5. Infielder Christopher Morel and Marlins finalize $2 million, 1-year contract (wsvn.com) — The Miami Marlins have signed infielder Christopher Morel to a one-year, $2 million deal, marking their first major move of the offseason. Morel, 26, comes from the Tampa Bay Rays and previously spent three seasons with the Chicago Cubs. The signing gives Miami another power-capable bat as the club looks to rebound from a 79-83 season under manager Clayton McCollough.
