- A Florida alligator trapper recently battled a 7-foot, 2-inch gator in the backyard of a Homestead home in South Florida, according to a video recording. Todd Hardwick of Pesky Critters Wildlife Control has more than 40 years of experience and captured to gator with his team. The video of the capture was shared on Facebook. (Miami Patch)
- The administration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is seeking to revoke the liquor license for Hyatt Regency Miami over a drag show held in December called "A Drag Queen Christmas." Losing the license could prove costly for the hotel next to Miami Convention Center. The DeSantis administration accused the venue, without providing evidence, of targeting children. A number of venues have recently become the target of liquor license battles with the state over drag show events that the state said are "perverted." (CBS Miami)
- Homeowners in Northwest Miami-Dade are concerned a new development will destroy a local lake. Most of the land beneath the lake is owned by a company called Lake Sana Developments, according to WSVN. A decision is expected this week on the development plans. (WSVN)
- Members of the Cuban national baseball team arrived in South Florida on Wednesday evening ahead of the next round of the World Baseball Classic. Protesters are expected to appear at the game. Miami Police asked everyone to respect each other's opinions without violence. (WPLG Local 10)
- Miami commissioners could change Brickell Street to a one-way street after the death of a pedestrian. The change would change Southwest 9 Street to one-way traffic westbound and requires county approval to proceed, even if Miami commissioners approve it. (The Next Miami)
