Here are the top stories today in Miami:

  1. City of Miami has given approval for Miami-Dade County to partially demolish the Coconut Grove Playhouse. The approval comes after objections from activists who want to preserve the South Florida landmark. An appeal by activists has been filed and is set to be heard at the next available Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board meeting. (Miami Today)
  2. Police in South Florida are looking for a suspect who allegedly stole a Broward County transit bus after exchanging gunfire with police near the 1400 block of Perimeter Road on Friday morning. Police said the bus is a 2019 Collins bus, bus #309, with Florida Tag TI0261. The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Leandro Fernandez Sanchez. (WSVN)
  3. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and local officials met Friday to provide an update to the public on the Doral waste-to-energy facility fire. Doral residents were advised to remain indoors and wear a mask when going outdoors while the fire is still active for their own protection. The advisory is also for pregnant women, children, and senior citizens. Doral Glades Park and Doral Legacy Park are closed until further notice. (WPLG Local 10)
  4. Novikov Miami has a new brunch menu that is served indoors and outdoors from noon to 4 p.m. on every Sunday. Menu items include Honey Truffle King Crab Leg, Wagyu Ribeye, and Brussel Sprouts with Crispy Pork. Brunch is either $99 or $199 per person with bottomless drinks included and various food options.   5. A Miramar teenager was arrested on Friday for allegedly making a bomb threat to Everglades High School Thursday. Police said the suspect attends Miramar High School. No one was injured in the incident. (NBC Miami)
