MIAMI, FL — Former NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire is charged with battery after he struck his daughter so hard she bled during an incident at his Miami home, according to reports.

Police responded about 10 p.m. Saturday to his Brickell Key condominium, where the girl said Stoudemire had punched and slapped her for being “disrespectful,” the Miami Herald reported. There were blood stains on her sweater and pants, and a photo sent to the child’s mother showed blood on the teen’s face, according to the Herald. Stoudemire has two daughters, ages 17 and 14, but police did not specify which was the victim, the Herald reported.

Stoudemire’s bond was set at $1,500 and he is scheduled for an arraignment hearing Jan. 17, court records said.
