Here are the top stories today in Miami:
- Miami-Dade Police have made an arrest after a Miami-Dade police detective was grazed by a bullet last Wednesday while he was conducting a narcotics investigation in Northwest Miami. "Thanks to the tireless efforts of my officers, the coward who ambushed my detective yesterday is in custody. Thank you to all of our local law enforcement partners for their help. No matter the colors of our uniform, we all come together in trying times and work as one family," Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez said on Twitter. (CBS Miami)
- An investigation is underway by Fort Lauderdale Police after a video allegedly depicted a man carrying dead puppies. The video was reported to police as felony animal neglect and was suspected by anonymous witness. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities. (WSVN)
- "Florida Man," the series is coming to Netflix on April 13, analyzing the nationwide icon. The idea of "Florida Man" has been popularized in books, articles, and of course, in the news. The fictional story will revolve around Florida man Mike Valentine, played by Edgar Ramírez. (Florida Patch)
- The 17th Annual Deering Seafood Festival is coming to South Florida on Sunday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Deering Estate in Palmetto Bay. All proceeds from the festival will benefit the Deering Estate Foundation. The event will feature cooking demos from Miami chefs and bites from South Florida restaurants. (Miami's Community News)
- A family is suing the City of Miami and Sgt. Constant Rosemond in federal court after their family member was shot in the head by police last year during a traffic stop near Miami Northwest Senior High School. Body camera footage captured the incident but does not show the victim armed as police have previously claimed before they shot and killed the man. (WPLG Local 10)
