MIAMI, FL — Fire officials are attempting to determine what caused a fire to break out in a Miami-Dade apartment complex Wednesday night.
Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the blaze erupted around 7 p.m. and quickly spread to a second alarm. The fire broke out at Le Club at Saga Bay, 8630 SW 212 St.
"When fire crews arrived, they did see heavy flames and smoke emanating from the roof of the building," Benitez said, adding that the agency dispatched more than 26 units to fight the blaze.

"Firefighters quickly began to work on putting out the fire by working from all angles of the building, including using a ladder truck to put the fire out from above, targeting the roof," Benitez explained.
Benitez said the Red Cross was called in to assist families that were displaced by the fire. The agency said some 24 condo units may have been affected.
