Firefighters Battle Blaze In Rural Southwest Miami-Dade Home

MIAMI, FL — Fire shot through the roof of a home in a rural area of southwest Miami-Dade on Sunday night.
"Due to the home located in a rural area of Miami-Dade, it was a challenge for fire crews as they needed to locate a stable water source to put the fire out," according to a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of SW 196 Street and 207 Avenue.

"Firefighters arrived to find fire coming from the roof of the home and the home fully engulfed in flames," the spokesperson explained. "Crews immediately began a defensive attack in order to put the fire out, utilizing a ladder truck to put out flames on the roof and setting up a hose line through a window for the interior of the home."
More than 20 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were called to the scene, including tankers, to provide water for the fire.

"There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation," the spokesperson added.
