Florida Reports 1,371 New Coronavirus Cases As Miami Beaches Open
Coronavirus cases in FL rose by 1,371 new cases Wednesday as Miami-Dade became one of the last counties to reopen its beaches.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Florida climbed by 1,371 new cases Wednesday as Miami-Dade County became one of the last Florida county's to reopen its beaches.
Unlike some other Florida counties, most people appeared to be following social distancing requirements. Miami-Dade, which includes the cities of Miami and Miami Beach, has been considered the epicenter of Florida's coronavirus outbreak along with nearby Broward County and Palm Beach County.
State health officials reported 36 new coronavirus deaths Wednesday and 160 new hospitalizations over the previous 24-hour period.

Florida now has 67,371 cases, up from 66,000 a day earlier. The state's death toll rose to 2,801 from 2,765 a day earlier.
Fifteen Florida counties reported new deaths Wednesday compared to 54 new deaths Tuesday, 12 new deaths Monday, 12 on Sunday, 28 new deaths Saturday, 53 new deaths Friday, 42 new deaths on Thursday, 35 new deaths Wednesday and 71 new deaths last Tuesday.

Miami-Dade reported 10 new deaths on Wednesday. Palm Beach County reported nine new deaths. Broward County reported three new deaths.
Lee County reported two more deaths as did Sarasota County. Desoto County reported one new death as did Duval County,Hamilton County, Hillsborough County, Leon County, Manatee County, Monroe County, Orange County, Pinellas County and Polk County.
Miami-Dade reported 20,277 cases of the virus Wednesday. Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 8,193 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes West Palm Beach, reported 7,678 cases.
Florida had a 5.3 percent positive test rate for the virus based on a total of 1,280,003 tests that had been administered as of Wednesday. The number of hospitalizations in Florida increased to 11,345 from 11,185 a day earlier.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 3,027cases. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 2,542cases.
