  1. Two former police officers from Hialeah, who are facing felony charges for allegedly beating a homeless man will remain in prison after facing a judge this week. The former police officers are accused of kidnapping a homeless person and then beating him, as captured on survelliance footage. "We will not allow rogue police officers to abuse their powers," said Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. (WSVN)
  2. Three people in South Florida are accused of allegedly robbing a mentally disabled homeless man after he paid them to take him to Miami. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 21 at around 2 a.m. The victim claimed he was robbed of $2,000 by the alleged attackers. Two of the suspects have been arrested, and one is still out on the streets. (CBS 12)
  3. The founder of Crunch Fitness, Douglas Levine, is planning to convert warehouse space into retail and office space in Little Haiti. Levine purchased properties worth $11 million, according to records. Levine also has projects in Wynwood and Allapattah as well as Little River. (The Real Deal - Miami)
  4. Foreign investors are gobbling up property in South Florida at the tune of $6.8 billion spent from August 2021 to July 2022. The international investors are keeping home prices high in Miami as they fall in the rest of the country, according to Goldman Sachs. These buyers tend ot make all-cash purchases as well. (Axios Miami)
  5. A South Florida jury has convicted a former Miami Palmetto Senior High School teacher, Jason Meyers, of sexual crimes against a former student. Meyers pleaded not guilty on March 9, 2016 to the crimes he was ultimately convicted of. His defense attorney has plans to appeal the conviction. (WPLG Local 10)
