Gator, Crocodile Battle Over Territory In FL Everglades: Video

A visitor to Everglades National Park caught an alligator and crocodile battling each over a place to bask in the sun.

SOUTH FLORIDA — An alligator and a crocodile were caught on video battling each other on a sidewalk at Everglades National Park on March 19.

A park visitor, Taylor Bonachea, captured the video, which was shared by Storyful Viral.

The video shows the territorial reptiles snapping, biting and hissing at each other outside the Shark Valley Observation Tower.

Other park-goers are also seen watching the fight from behind a nearby bike rack.

The animals seemed to be fighting over a specific area to bask in the sun, Bonachea told Storyful.

Both the gator and crocodile are seen leaving the coveted basking spot and walking towards the bushes at the end of the video.

“The alligator goes into the water and leaves the immediate vicinity in defeat, and the croc gets her nice sunny spot to bask in the sun,” Bonachea said.

South Florida, including the Everglades, is the only place in the world where American alligators and American crocodiles coexist, the National Park Service said.
