Brenard O. Carr allegedly attacked a Miami girl over the weekend when she stopped at a church to drop off some shoes.

MIAMI, FL — Police have arrested the 33-year-old man who allegedly attacked a young Miami girl over the weekend when she stopped at a church to drop off some shoes. Brenard O. Carr was charged with one count of interference with custody, according to Miami police. The girl managed to get away with her sister, who was nearby.

"He grabbed her by her hip area and pulled her toward him," Officer Kiara Delva told Patch of the girl who was attacked. Delva said that the two sisters ran home to their mother who called police.

"He attempted to kidnap one of the kids," Delva said. The attack occurred around 6:30 p.m. Friday at NW 13 Avenue and 67 Street.

According to court documents, Carr came up beside the girl as she was walking along Northwest 13 Avenue.

"The defendant stated, 'hey do you drink or smoke?'" the court documents alleged. "The victim ignored the defendant and continued walking southbound. The defendant then stated, 'I drink and I smoke. Come home with me. I'll take care of you.'"

Appearing in bond court on Tuesday, Carr denied the allegations.

"I did not say that mam," Carr told Miami Judge Mindy S. Glazer.

Delva added that the victim and her sister were briefly allegedly followed by Carr along southbound 13th Avenue.

"Once both the victim and witness arrived home, they contacted the police," Delva said. "Through investigative means, the detectives were able to obtain the identity of the individual involved, which was confirmed by the victim."

Neither girl was injured.
