MIAMI, FL — First responders rescued a man who fell from a boat Saturday near Bear Cut. The incident happened around 11:40 a.m. in rough seas.

"Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received a Mayday call by a sailing vessel just east of Bear Cut," said a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, adding that Miami-Dade Fire Boat 73 responded to the call along with the U.S. Coast Guard, Key Biscayne Marine Patrol, Miami-Dade Police Department Marine Patrol and SeaTow.

"Within several minutes, a Good Samaritan was able to locate and rescue the sailer as he drifted one quarter mile away from his fellow sailer due to the outgoing current," the spokesperson explained. "Thankfully, the gentleman was donning his lifejacket and the individual who remained onboard radioed for help."
