Marc Anthony's Yacht Catches Fire And Overturns In Miami: VIDEO
Marc Anthony's multi-million-dollar yacht burst into flames on Miami's Watson Island, according to first responders and a marina official.
MIAMI, FL — Latin music superstar Marc Anthony's multi-million-dollar yacht burst into flames on Miami's Watson Island Wednesday night and overturned but the singer was not on board at the time, according to first responders and a marina official.
Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the blaze erupted around 7:30 p.m. at a marina on Watson Island not far from the Jungle Island and Miami Children's Museum attractions.
"At the time of the fire there were two crew members on board the yacht but they were both able to get off safely and there were no reported injuries," Benitez said.

"Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews quickly began working on extinguishing the fire alongside other responding agencies to help prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent boats," according to Benitez.
First responders used an oil absorbent boom to help reduce any potential environmental damage from the fire. The boom was described as a strong mesh-like sleeve that encases a highly-absorbent material to soak up oil and surface sheen.
"Boat fires can quickly go from a small compartment fire into an unstoppable blaze in a matter of minutes because of the materials found on board these vessels," Benitez explained.
Both Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Fireboat 21 and Fireboat 73 were on the scene along with a Miami Fire Rescue boat.
Benitez said first responders worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent boats in the marina.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue boats operate 24 hours a day.
