- An off-duty Miami-Dade County police officer's gun accidentally discharged while eating at a Coral Gables sushi restaurant, according to multiple news reports. Another person dining with the officer was injured in the incident and had non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is underway by Coral Gables police and Miami-Dade police’s Internal Affairs Bureau. (Miami Patch)
- A lawsuit has been filed against Miami City Attorney Victoria Mendez and her husband, as well as his real estate firm, for allegedly using city government connections to make a profit on a home bought allegedly at "below market value." The lawsuit was filed by a former Miami−Dade County resident. The former resident wants a jury trial to be held in Miami-Dade County circuit court. (WLRN)
- There will be a street naming ceremony for Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, Supreme Court of the United States on Monday, March 6 in Miami, according to an announcement from Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins. Justice Jackson is the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court and also the first Supreme Court Justice from Miami-Dade County. (Miami’s Community News)
- A homeowner in the Florida Keys is suing Islamorada and claiming a public path belongs to her. Islamorada is a popular fishing spot and tourist attraction. Previous cases have said the path is public, but the homeowner is not done fighting. (WSVN)
- South Florida rapper Kodak Black was in court Tuesday facing allegations of violating terms for his pretrial release. Authorities said the rapper failed to submit to drug and alcohol testing on Feb. 3 and then allegedly failed a drug test on Feb. 8 for Fentanyl. (WPLG Local 10)
