KEY BISCAYNE, FL — Miami police will be stopping cars on Saturday, Sunday and Monday as part of a Memorial Day weekend crackdown on DUI and traffic violations. Officer Kenia Fallat of the Miami Police Department said that officers will show "zero tolerance" for offenders in the area of 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway. The area falls under the department's Brickell N.E.T. Service area.
The operation will run from noon to 10 p.m. on all three days of the long holiday weekend. The area is a critical thoroughfare for any planning to travel to the beaches at Crandon Park or visit the Miami Seaquarium.

"The goal of this saturation patrol is to provide a continuing effort to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities on our roadways," Fallat said. "The operation will consist of traffic enforcement officers deploying to different locations throughout the Brickell N.E.T. Service Area which have been identified through the collection of traffic crash data and traffic complaints in recent months."
In addition to DUI offenders, police will also be looking for motorists who are found to be driving with a suspended license or who don't have a license at all. She said that officers will also be looking for people who aren't wearing a seat-belt and those who are speeding.
