Miami Beach Police Officer Stabbed On Ocean Drive
A Miami Beach police officer was listed in stable condition after being stabbed.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A Miami Beach police officer was listed in stable condition Saturday night after being stabbed along tourist-favorite Ocean Drive.
The agency's Ernesto Rodriguez said officers opened fire on the suspect, who was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. The injured police officer was also taken to Ryder.
"Our officer is in surgery but listed in stable condition," Rodriguez said early Sunday morning. He did not immediately say what led to the shooting and stabbing of the police officer.

Ocean Drive was closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic between 9 Street and 11 Street in an area that is typically packed with tourists and locals on a Saturday night.
"Our scene is contained," Miami Beach police said. "No public safety threat exists. Police said the officer-involved shooting took place at 10 Street and Ocean Drive shortly after 9 p.m.
