- A man was killed and another was injured on Friday night in a shooting near a Miami Beach aea filled with spring breakers, according to police and a report. Dozens of people rushed to escape the gunfire, authorities said. A male suspect was detained by police in the incident. (Miami Patch)
- No curfew will be imposed on spring breakers despite a shooting on Friday night on Miami Beach, according to authorities. Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber called the shooting "an isolated incident" in a text message to the Miami Herald and said the spring break crowds have been "mostly calm." (Miami Herald)
- Security was boosted this week at Miami Northwestern Senior High School after several fights drew police involvement and citations. The school was placed on lockdown on Thursday due to the violent fights on-campous and many fights were captured on camera. Community activists are now demanding action from the Miami-Dade School Board. (WSVN)
- Three people were saved Saturday after a yacht caught fire in Biscayne Bay near Coral Gables Waterway. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and City of Miami Fire Rescue saved the boaters and put the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation by authorities. (WPLG Local 10)
- Commissioner René Garcia wants Miami-Dade County to launch a "high impact film fund program" to attract "major television series and motion picture productions," according to Miami Today. Garcia's proposal is moving one step closer to the desk of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava after a committee vote. Georgia has recently replaced Florida as the third largest state for film making in the U.S.A. (Miami Today)
