Miami Building Evacuated Because Of Crane Damaged In Hurricane irma

The buildings at 505 NE 30th St. and 479 NE 30th St. are subject to evacuation.

MIAMI, FL — Officials ordered the evacuation of two buildings Tuesday evening because a nearby crane damaged in Hurricane Irma has still not been secured.

The entire building at 505 NE 30th St. was subject to the evacuation, while only the east side of the building at 479 NE 30th St. was cleared.

In a media advisory, the The City of Miami Police and Fire-Rescue said that there are hotel rooms available in the area for evacuees. Fifty residents at Civic Towers at 1855 NW 15th Ave. were also evacuated because the building suffered hurricane damage. The building, which house the elderly, currently has no power. The residents were taken to a local shelter, officials said.
