Miami Cop Car Art You Won't Forget
Police have always known how to make an entrance with their flashing lights and blaring sirens. Miami police have kicked things up a notch.

MIAMI, FL — Police have always known how to make an entrance with their flashing lights and blaring sirens. But Miami police have kicked things up a notch. Chief Jorge Colina recently took the wraps off a one-of-a-kind cop car work of art.
"The MPD Art Car showcases the artist’s abstract, geometric style and signature eye on the hood of the car," a spokeswoman for the project told Patch. "It took three days to transform the car."

The police car is asigned to the Wynwood neighborhood, which is one of the more artsy areas of Miami. The stylized cruiser was part of the city's observance of National Night Out.
"The only condition that police put on the artist and Goldman Global Arts, who curated the artwork — is that the car needed to be designed by a Miami artist," the spokeswoman said, adding that the artist was given complete artistic license.

The artist selected for the project was ABSTRK. The project was made possible by the Wynwood Business Improvement District, Miami Police Athletic League and Goldman Global Arts.
Wynwood District Police Commander Dan Kerr oversaw the initiative, with the goal of strengthening the relationship between Wynwood street artists, residents and police.
"The colorful, creative new addition to the police department’s fleet looks unlike any other police car in America, but perfectly reflects the unmistakable street art of the Wynwood neighborhood that it serves," the spokeswoman said.
She added that the car is in service and may respond to any calls in the Wynwood neighborhood.
