Miami-Dade Man and Haitian Accused Of Trafficking Cocaine

A Miami area man and a Haitian national have been charged with cocaine trafficking.

MIAMI, FL — A Miami area man and a Haitian national have been charged with cocaine trafficking. Forty-year-old Vito Antenor of Miami-Dade County and forty-four-year-old Vincent “Angelo” Casseus of Haiti were accused of planning to distribute the cocaine in Miami-Dade and neighboring Broward County

The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Benjamin G. Greenberg in Miami and Special Agent in Charge Robert F. Lasky of the FBI Miami Field Office on Monday.

"From at least as early as February 2016, and continuing through on or about March 2, 2017, Vincent Casseus, a/k/a “Angelo” 44, of Jérémie, Haiti, and Vito Antenor, 40, of Miami-Dade County, Florida, conspired to import and possess with intent to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and elsewhere," according to federal prosecutors.

"The Indictment further alleges that Casseus and Antenor possessed with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine in Miami-Dade County on Nov. 6, 2016," prosecutors said.

Casseus, who was extradited to the U.S., was scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 1. Antenor’s detention hearing was set for Aug. 2.

If convicted of conspiracy, the two men face a statutory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life. If convicted of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, the defendants face a statutory minimum of five years and a maximum term of 40 years in prison.

The investigation was conducted by members of the South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, which is made up of federal, state and local law enforcement officials.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan K. Osborne.
