Miami-Dade Man With Knives Fatally Shot By Police: Reports

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead, multiple news outlets report.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex along the 8000 block of Southwest 149th Avenue.

According to the Associated Press, a police officer fatally shot Richard Hollis, 21, after he refused to drop several knives.

Police were initially called to the apartment complex to investigate a "violent disturbance" where a woman could be heard screaming, WSVN-TV reported.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting, according to WPLG-TV.
