The award recognizes an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field. Each team nominates only one player for the honor, all of whom will receive a donation of up to $50,000 in their name for the charity of their choice.
The winner of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award will receive a $250,000 donation to the charity of his choice courtesy of the NFL Foundation and Nationwide.

"My New Year's resolution is to concentrate more on being a leader for this team," he told Patch.
Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber
A former federal prosecutor, Florida state representative and Florida Senator, Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber is now the top elected leader of the urban resort island.
"My hope for this year is that, notwithstanding our divisions and disagreements, we can still somehow manage to get along," he shared.
