MIAMI, FL — Miami police are promising to remain vigilant after a homeless man was found dead Sunday night under the Miami-Dade Metrorail.

"We are reviewing footage on the incident to determine what occurred," Officer Mike Vega of the Miami Police Department shared with Patch. "Officers will remain vigilant since it is the holiday season."

Vega said the body of the homeless man was discovered shortly after 9 p..m. in the rear of the 3000 block of SW 28 Lane.

"The victim was discovered on a grassy area behind a business and near the walking path under the Miami-Dade Metrorail," Vega said. "The victim was unresponsive and appeared to be injured."

City of Miami Fire Rescue personnel pronounced the homeless man dead on the scene.

"Detectives are investigating the possible motives and ask that anyone with information on this incident to please contact the Miami Police Department or Crime Stoppers," Vega said.
