Miami Shooting Victim Accused Of Provoking Attack By Brother
Precious Ford allegedly kept yelling, "I'm going to stab you" before she was shot by her brother over the family finances.

MIAMI, FL — A Miami woman, who was shot in the chest by her brother during an apparent argument over his lack of contribution to the household expenses, has been accused of provoking the attack. Twenty-two-year-old Precious Ford was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police said she chased her brother around the kitchen with a knife until he shot her in self defense.
"She stated that she got into a verbal argument with the victim as the victim was sitting outside of the house," according to court documents made public by Miami police Thursday. "The argument was over the victim not cooperating with the utilities' bill and not helping financially."
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at NW 14 Ave and 69 Street, according to Miami police.

Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department told Patch shortly after the shooting that police were still trying to find the woman's brother, who took off after the shooting.
Ford was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where she was listed in stable condition. That's also where her brother turned up and told officers his side of the story.

"The victim advised the defendant several times to leave him alone," court documents said. "The defendant continued yelling and screaming at the victim. The defendant then told the victim 'Watch, I'm going to make an example out of you' and proceeded to grab a knife from the kitchen to stab the victim."
At one point, their father tried to step in and hold back his daughter but was unsuccessful.
"As the victim observed the defendant grabbing a knife, the victim went into his bedroom and grabbed a silver in color handgun," court documents said.
"The defendant kept yelling 'I'm going to stab you' and moved forward towards the victim with the knife in her hand above her head making a strike motion," court documents added.
Police said that Precious Ford gave them a confession at the hospital as she was being treated for her gunshot wound.
Her brother's name has not been released. He has not been charged.
